Matt has practiced exclusively in the area of insurance defence litigation since his call to the bar in 2007.

His practice includes all areas of insurance litigation, including first and third party claims and disputes between insurers such as loss transfer and priority disputes. He also has experience in WSIAT matters. Matt often handles claims for significant property loss and has also specialized in matters for insurers involving staged accidents.

Matt has conducted numerous examinations under oath, examinations for discovery, and mediations. He has argued contested motions in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and has conducted Trials at the Ontario Court of Small Claims. His focus, however, is on settling files as expeditiously as possible.

Among other issues, Matt has authored opinions regarding the eligibility and quantum of income replacement benefits involving self-employed claimants, the interpretation of "regular use" of a company motor vehicle, and delineating through the Fault Determination Rules.

He is a member of The Advocates' Society, the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Defence Lawyers, and the Toronto Lawyer's Association.

When not in the office, Matt can often be found with his nose in a (hopefully) good book or listening to music and playing guitar, but is most happy spending time with his wife, Kathryn, and his children, Hayden and Edwin.
