Careers: Law Clerk
The successful candidate will manage insurance defence matters from file opening through to resolution. Specific responsibilities include drafting pleadings, status reports and synopsis memos; assembling case materials; preparation for trials and arbitrations; and communicating with counsel and clients.
Selected candidates must possess the following:
- Minimum of 5 years' related experience 
- Demonstrable experience within a law firm handling casualty, accident benefits (including LAT, priority and loss transfer) and property damage claims 
- Successful completion of post-secondary education and Law Clerk Certification 
- Excellent knowledge of the SABS, and the Rules of Civil Procedure 
- Ability to draft comprehensive reports, summaries and pleadings 
- Experience in trial and arbitration preparation 
- Keen attention to detail 
- Adept technical skills using MS Office Word, Outlook and Excel 
- Proficient in the use of Time Matters and PrimaFact preferred, experience using Lighthouse is an asset but not required 
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team 
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment 
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
