Born and raised in St. John’s, Jason was called to the bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 1998 and in Ontario in 2001. Before joining Laxton Glass LLP in 2004, Jason practised at firms in Toronto and in St. John's.  Jason was admitted into the partnership in 2014.

Jason practices in a number of different areas of insurance law, including motor vehicle accident claims (handling both tort and statutory accident benefits claims), professional liability claims, property and casualty claims, priority and “loss transfer” disputes, and coverage disputes.

Jason has successfully appeared at the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal, the License Appeal Tribunal, and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. He has also assisted in the preparation of written submissions in successfully resisting a “leave to appeal” application at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Jason is on the “preferred counsel” list for LawPro, the Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company, and has defended a number of lawyers’ negligence cases.  He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association (and has served on the OBA’s Insurance Law Section executive), Canadian Defence Lawyers, and the Defense Research Institute.

Outside of work, Jason has served on local, regional and provincial executives of community and political organizations, and remains a fan of exploring as much of the culture, cuisine and live music that Toronto has to offer.
